Inauguration of a regular Shipping line between Mauritania and Algeria
The first regular commercial maritime line between Mauritania and Algeria was inaugurated this Monday, March 7, in the premises of the autonomous port of Nouakchott, on the occasion of the arrival of the first voyage carrying containers and pharmaceutical materials. and miscellaneous, as part of the strengthening of well-established fraternal relations between Mauritania and Algeria, the importance of which was underlined during the visit of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani to Algeria at the end of December.
On behalf of the Minister of Equipment and Transport, the Minister of Commerce, Her Excellency Mrs. Naha Mint Mouknass, accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, chaired the inauguration ceremony in the presence of the ambassador Algerian, H.E.M Ben Atou Mohamed.
This new commercial maritime line raises the level of fraternal relations uniting the two countries. It will contribute to the promotion and increase in the volume of trade, offer several opportunities for partnership and cooperation, and support the export and import of various goods. Which will boost the economy of the two countries thanks to the services and favorable conditions offered by the autonomous port of Nouakchott, whose General Director, Mr. SID'AHMED RAISS, has already given his directives to the entire port community to guarantee the best services to this maritime line, and has taken all the necessary measures to ensure its efficiency and sustainability, thus inviting all economic players to seize this opportunity and this interconnectivity for the benefit of all the countries of the Sahel.
This connection, which connects the two ports in less than 8 days, will be carried out each month by a boat capable of transporting more than 8,000 tonnes initially. The carrier will be able to strengthen these capacities depending on demand.
