Originally designed to process and receive one million tonnes per year, the Port of Nouakchott has far exceeded this initial ceiling.
The quantity of goods transiting there increased from 2.3 tonnes in 2008 to more than 4.3 million tonnes in 2017.
Through dynamism and attractive pricing, PANPA was able to double, in ten years, its annual traffic of goods.
Alongside the increase in annual tonnage, container traffic has almost tripled, with the number of containers in TEU increasing from 57,483 units in 2008 to more than 141,010 units in 2017.
